Boreham Wood extended their lead at the top of the National League to three points with a 4-1 comeback victory over Harrogate Town. The win at Meadow Park in front of 1,405 fans keeps the side unbeaten in five league games.
Luke Garrard's team fell behind in the ninth minute when Bailey Hobson put the visitors ahead. The response was swift, with Tarryn Allarakhia levelling the score twelve minutes later after a deflected pass from Lewis Cass. Zak Brunt then put Wood ahead from the penalty spot just before half-time after referee Dave Rock judged Chris Bush had been fouled.
Jay Bird doubled the advantage eleven minutes into the second half, and substitute Ben Whitfield sealed the points with a volley into the top corner just two minutes after coming on. The only blemish was a late red card for Regan Booty in the 79th minute.
Manager Luke Garrard acknowledged the challenge despite the scoreline. "Despite the score, it was a difficult game for the most part," he said. "We went behind but seemed to score goals at the right time. I can’t ask for any more from my players."
The result solidifies Boreham Wood's position at the summit, with 23 points from their opening nine matches. Bird's double earned him the Star Man award in a match rated four stars for entertainment.
Attention now turns to maintaining this momentum on the road. The next test is a trip to face Solihull Moors, who currently sit 23rd, this Saturday.
