Boreham Wood's five-match winning streak was halted by a late Eastleigh equaliser in a 1-1 National League draw at the Silverlake Stadium. Charlie O'Connell's second-half strike looked to have secured another three points for the league leaders, only for Temi Eweka to level with six minutes remaining.

Luke Garrard's side remain top of the table on 17 points from seven games, but their lead was trimmed to a single point. The result extends their unbeaten run to six matches, with four wins and two draws in that sequence.

O'Connell breaks deadlock

After a goalless first half where Eastleigh defender Eweka made a vital block to deny Tarryn Allarakhia, Boreham Wood took control. The breakthrough arrived in the 67th minute when Regan Booty set up Charlie O'Connell to fire home. It was O'Connell's first league goal of the campaign and seemed set to be the winner.

Late drama denies Wood

Eastleigh pressed for a response and found it with time running out. In the 84th minute, Temi Eweka turned from defensive hero to attacking match-winner, scoring to make it 1-1. Boreham Wood had earlier survived scares when Oliver Bainbridge sent a rebound wide and James Clarke saw an effort hooked off the line by Tommy Dobson-Ventura.

The draw means Boreham Wood have now scored 17 goals and conceded nine this season.

Garrard's men must now regroup ahead of their next fixture, a home match against Dagenham & Redbridge at Meadow Park on Saturday.
