Boreham Wood has completed the signing of 19-year-old forward Farhaan Ali Walid from Fulham on a season-long loan. The talented youngster arrives at Meadow Park to add depth and quality to Boreham Wood’s attacking lineup, as they prepare for their Enterprise National League opener against Tamworth this weekend.
Ali Walid, who predominantly plays on the left-hand side of the forward line, has been making waves in Fulham's youth teams. After joining the Cottagers from Chelsea at Under-12s level, he signed his first professional contract last year and quickly established himself as a key player with the U18s.
The young forward enjoyed an impressive breakout campaign with the U18s side, scoring nine goals and providing five assists across two seasons in Premier League 2. His performances were so notable that he was promoted to the U21 side, where he continued his form by being named Player of the Month for November.
In recognition of his hard work, Ali Walid was called up to Fulham's pre-season camp and made his first-team debut in a behind-closed-doors match against Norwich City. He also featured on the bench for recent pre-season games against Farense and Al-Ahli, showcasing his potential at higher levels.
Wearing number 20, Ali Walid is expected to bring much-needed versatility and goals to Boreham Wood’s squad. His arrival comes amid speculation surrounding Abdul Abdulmalik's future with the club, as Leicester City reportedly showed interest in the forward.
