Boreham Wood have signed defender Will Wright from Barnet on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee. The 29-year-old arrives to strengthen the defensive options for a squad that currently sits first in the National League with 29 points from 11 games.

Will Wright brings extensive experience from over 130 National League appearances with Dagenham & Redbridge and more recent spells in the EFL with Crawley Town and Swindon Town. The 6ft 4in Luton-born player, who can operate at centre-back, right-back or in midfield, captained Dagenham to an eighth-place finish in 2019 and was part of Crawley's promotion-winning side from League Two in 2024.

Manager Luke Garrard said he had admired Wright for some time. Garrard added that Wright joins a competitive squad and will bring much-needed competition to the defensive unit.

The player himself said it was an exciting time to join the club and that he hopes to help achieve the goals the club has set. His arrival comes as Boreham Wood prepare for a key home fixture against fourth-placed Altrincham this weekend, looking to extend a recent run of four wins and a draw from their last five matches.

Wright made five substitute appearances for Barnet after joining them in July, and now returns to the National League aiming to make an immediate impact. His signing is seen as a move to add leadership and versatility during a promising season. The club's current defensive record shows 12 goals conceded alongside 29 scored, a balance Wright will be tasked with maintaining. For a detailed look at the squad, visit the squad section.

His first opportunity to feature could come against Altrincham at Meadow Park on Saturday, as Boreham Wood look to protect their seven-point lead at the summit.
